hello, I'm

Dann B.

Frontend developer and designer. I built PastelPal - a growing collection of free color tools and a blog about color - because the color tools I found online never quite did what I needed.

About Me

I've been building for the web for 11 years, working across frontend development and design. Most of that time has been spent in the trenches of real projects: shipping interfaces, agonising over pixel alignment, and learning the hard way that the right color - and the right contrast - makes a product feel like it was made by humans rather than a template.

PastelPal started as a personal scratchpad of utilities I kept reaching for: a palette generator that actually makes pastels look good, a contrast checker that speaks in plain language, a converter that doesn't fight you. Over time it grew into the full suite you see today, plus a blog where I write about color in the way I wish someone had explained it to me when I started.

Everything here is written and built by me, and the site is supported by unobtrusive advertising rather than paywalls or selling data - see the advertising disclosure for details.

Free for Everyone

All our color tools are completely free. No sign-ups, no subscriptions, no hidden costs. Great design tools should be accessible to all.

Built by a Practitioner

PastelPal is made by someone who works in frontend and design every day - the tools solve real problems from real projects, not hypothetical ones.

Made with Love

Every tool and article is crafted by hand. I build the things I wish existed, and I keep improving them based on what people tell me.

Constantly Improving

I'm always adding new features, tools, and articles based on feedback. Have an idea? I'd love to hear it - the contact page is always open.
