About Image Recoloring
How Image Recoloring Works
When you upload an image, the tool scans the pixels and extracts the dominant colors. You pick one to replace, choose a new color, and adjust the tolerance — how strictly the tool matches shades — before applying. Everything runs locally in your browser, so your images are never uploaded to a server.
The result is great for quick visual exploration: change a product's color for a mockup, test rebrand ideas, or create color variants of the same asset in seconds.
Tips for Clean Recolors
- Start with a low tolerance for exact matches, then raise it if you see color bleeding into nearby areas.
- For photos, pick the most representative swatch — gradients and lighting create many variations of one color.
- Use Peek Original to compare before and after as you fine-tune.
- Work on images with clean, flat colors (logos, product shots) for the most predictable results.
Image Recolor FAQ
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. All recoloring happens locally in your browser using canvas, so your images never leave your device.
What does the tolerance slider do?
It controls how close a pixel's color must be to the selected color before it gets replaced. Lower values only change exact matches; higher values also change similar shades.
What image formats are supported?
PNG, JPG and WebP all work, and the result downloads as a PNG.
